David William Oberdoester of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away and met the Lord Jesus on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the age of 78. David was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on August 26, 1945, to Catherine Rose (Sabo) Oberdoester and Robert Anthony Oberdoester.
David joined the United States Navy in 1963, serving just over three years and earning the National Defense Service Medal before being transferred to the Navy Reserves. He married the love of his life, Rikki, on October 25, 1965, in a beautiful ceremony in California.
David was highly skilled at mechanical work. A welder by trade, he specialized in building trucks and enjoyed the work that he did. He lovingly took the role of “family mechanic”, taking immense pride in keeping all of his loved ones’ cars maintained. David enjoyed mowing his grass and keeping his yard looking good, and many weekends were spent playing darts, or happily parked in front of the TV watching NASCAR races. More than anything, David treasured the time he spent with those he loved. He especially loved drinking wine and watching the sunset on the patio with Rikki in the evenings. David was a loving husband and father, and a wonderful grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be fiercely missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Rikki Oberdoester; three children, Kathie Brooks and son-in-law Ken, Michael Oberdoester, and Andrew Oberdoester and daughter-in-law Desiree; his grandchildren, Laura and husband Caleb, Leslie, Joshua, Taylor, Gunner, and Haydyn. David is also survived by his brother, Robert Oberdoester Jr. and sister-in-law Jackie, his father-in-law Coy Hulin and many other loved ones and friends.
