On October 19, 2020 Clyde Gleason, loving husband, father and pawpaw departed this earth. He was 100 years old. Born March 28, 1920 in Leach Oklahoma to George and Odessa Gleason, he was the youngest of 13 children.
Clyde was a member of Community Christian Church in Moore, Oklahoma. On June 6, 1941, he married Faye Marie Turner. They raised three daughters and one son. He was a World War II veteran. He worked as a carpenter until 1959, when he and Faye bought 80 acres in south Oklahoma City where he raised cattle and wheat. He then did carpentry work on the side. He had a zest for life and after he retired from farming, he and Faye started a concrete statuary business near their home on SW 149th. He worked pouring the concrete statues well into his eighties.
He had a passion for hunting, fishing and camping. He spent many nights at Lake Texoma fishing under the Frisco bridge all night long with various family members. Even though he and Faye didn’t eat fish, he would always clean and freeze all he caught and at the end of summer they would throw a big fish fry at their church. Clyde loved to travel. He and Faye spent many winters in south Texas. They also traveled all over the country and to Canada and Mexico. He was known for his quick wit and compassionate spirit.
Clyde is preceded in death by his father George, his mother Odessa and his wife Faye. He is survived by his four children Shirley Callicoat, Judy Heck, Gary Gleason, Gayle Mongold and son-in-law Casey Mongold. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild as well many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by all.
Visitation will be at the John Ireland Funeral Home Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm. A graveside service for Clyde will be Thursday, October.22, 2020 at 11:00 am at Resthaven Memory gardens.
