It is with profound grief and a lifetime of beautiful memories that we say goodbye to Cindy Gooch of Del City, Oklahoma. She was called Home to Heaven on April 24, 2024, at the age of 75. Born Cindy Louise Jennings in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on May 27, 1948, she was the daughter of Kenneth William Jennings and Frances Jo (O’Rourke) Jennings, both of whom have preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry; two children, son Greg and his wife Janna, and daughter Jenny and her husband Greg; four grandchildren, Jacob, Lindsay, Colton, and Austin; eight great-grandchildren, Aiden, Clara, Hayley, Lola, Bonnie, Emma, Calamity, and Imogen; and two sisters, Sally Nye, and Melissa Kave.
Cindy was one-of-a-kind. She liked looking her best and was magnificently put together, no matter the occasion. She loved getting regular manicures and pedicures and always enjoyed having her hair done. In her free time, Cindy, alongside her love Larry, loved to sight-see and visit the many tourist attractions across the United States. They particularly loved visiting Utah, where their son lives. She also loved playing board games and enjoyed a good game of poker with her family when everyone could be together during the holidays. She was quite crafty in her spare time as well and especially enjoyed making her trademark clay Christmas ornaments that she loved gifting to her family and friends.
She was also an avid Sooners football fan, but by far, her favorite pastime was going out to lunch with her two sisters, or sometimes, with her friends and former colleagues. She adored trying out new places to eat, and more so, loved the company and lively conversation. Cindy’s generosity, kindness, and warmth profoundly impacted all the people fortunate enough to know her. She had a way of making everyone in her life feel so special. With a 47-year career as an ER Nurse, she had developed and honed the unique ability to make individuals feel valued and appreciated, leaving a lasting impression on so many lives.
Her faith family was at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Moore, with Cindy devoting many years being actively involved in various areas of the church, alongside her faithful companion, Larry. Cindy married the great love of her life on November 26, 1969, in a beautiful ceremony at Little Flower Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. Their 54-year partnership was built on mutual love, respect, and a shared love of adventure. Nothing made Cindy happier than being with the people she loved, and it was her family that remained her greatest source of pride and joy. She was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren, prioritizing their happiness and well-being above anything else. As we reflect upon her life, let us remember Cindy Louise Gooch for her many amazing accomplishments, the numerous things she was passionate about, and her genuine love and dedication to her family. Her memory will live forever in our hearts.
