Obituary

Charles H. Pollard, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away April 6, 2021, at the age of 83.  He was born April 7, 1937, in Fort Towson, Oklahoma to Marvin Henry & Viola Gay (Shannon) Pollard.  Charles grew up in Roosevelt, Oklahoma, and attended Roosevelt High School.  He married Barbara June Selle on June 29, 1961, in Clovis, New Mexico.  Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge for services rendered to his country when called upon to do so.  He lived in Oklahoma City from 1961-1970, and then moved to Moore and was a resident there until his passing.  Charles drove a bus for Jefferson Lines for 40 years and had traveled all over the United States.  Charles loved watching is OU Sooners with his kids and grandkids.  He enjoyed fishing, watching game shows, and old Westerns.  Charles enjoyed playing with his grandkids, charcoaling hamburgers, and making pancakes.  His family loved his pancakes that he was so famous for.  He didn’t follow a recipe, he just poured and mixed and no one could duplicate it.   His first love was spending time with his family and especially his grandkids.  Charles was hard-working, trustworthy, and generous.  He was kind, quiet, and loyal and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.  Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin & Viola Pollard; 2 brothers, Bobby Joe Pollard and Norwood Clayton Pollard.  Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 59 years, Barbara Pollard; 3 sons, Charles Randal “Randy” Pollard & wife, Kimberly, Dale Allen Pollard, and Gary Duane Pollard; 1 daughter, Ladena Gay Schober, and husband, Bill; 10 grandchildren, Ashley Denise Jackson & husband, Tyler, Mark Duane Pollard, Nick Royce Pollard, Grayson Lane Pollard, Miranda Nicole Pollard, Logan Charles Schober, Ryan Matthew Schober, Krista Allanah Schober, Jessica Paige Colón & husband, Andrew, Anthony William Schober & wife, Mariah; 13 great-grandchildren, Braden Tyler Jackson, Summer Rose Jackson, Elizabeth Jade Jackson, Emma Grace Jackson, Kya Mackenzie Pollard, Damon Nathaniel Schober, Natalie Jayne Colón, Khamari Blayze Carter, Lennox Cole Carter, Caelianna Aubrielle Babcock, Felix Grant Pollard, Mariah Olivia Pollard, and his namesake, Charlie; 3 sisters, Merle Ruth Jones, Bonnie Jean Phillips & husband, John, and Billie Jane Boren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and friends.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm, Friday, April 9, 2021, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway in Moore, Oklahoma.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Wilmont Place Baptist Church, located at 6440 S. Santa Fe Ave., in Oklahoma City.  He will be laid to rest at Moore Cemetery, in Moore, Oklahoma.  Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
