Charles O'Dell Obituary

Charles A. O’Dell, 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 17, 2021. The son of Harold Alvis and Bertha Mae (Hill) O’Dell, Charles was born on July 4, 1947 in Edmond, OK. Charles grew up in several towns, but was primarily from Arcadia, Cushing, and Newcastle,

Charles began working at Tinker Air Force Base when he was just 18. He worked there in several different capacities but mainly as an aircraft mechanic. While working at Tinker, he also was a part of the Army National Guard Reserves and the Air Force Reserves. He retired after 35 ½ years at TAFB. After retirement, Charles kept busy doing many things including working along side Connie at the election polls.

Charles was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He also served as a Deacon and on the Board at Open Door Assembly of God Church. He was also an avid ham radio operator and enjoyed building radios since he was a young man.

Charles enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He was also a very talented and gifted musician who played multiple instruments. Charles was an artist who could paint, draw and sculpt. He was a carpenter and metal worker. He could fix anything including any kind of classic car and build something special out a pile of junk. Charles would help anyone who needed it and would give you the shirt off his back. He had a big heart for children, and easily talked to them wherever he went, but he especially loved his boys and his grandchildren.

He leaves behind many who miss him greatly, his wife of 47 years, Connie O’Dell; 2 sons, Jason O’Dell and wife Misti, Jeremy O’Dell and wife Leigh Ann; grandchildren, Michael O’Dell and wife Krystel, Melanie O’Dell, Jessica O’Dell, Grace O’Dell and Erin O’Dell; great grandchildren, Zaniel O’Dell and Zaiden O’Dell; sister, Carolyn Tyler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Harold O’Dell and Bertha O’Dell; sister, Jannie McIntosh; and brother, Tom O’Dell.
