Buford Leon Stephens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on June 28, 2022, at the age of 84. He was born in Newcastle, Oklahoma, on May 13, 1938, the son of Albert James Stephens and Wynona (Stanley) Stephens.
Growing up, Buford loved playing baseball and was a star pitcher. He was a man’s man who loved restoring and painting old cars and watching sports, especially boxing. As a young man in the 1970s, Buford enjoyed racing cars, and was one of the top racers in the state of Oklahoma. His faith was very important to him, and he loved going to church and listening to his favorite Christian music. Buford was a wonderful father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Wynona Stephens, two brothers, Dwight Stephens, and Billy Don Stephens, and two sisters, Janette Stephens, and Debbie Hooper.
He is survived by seven children, Jim Stephens and his wife, Rona Philip Stephens, and his wife Leann, Vickie Stephens of the home, Tony Hayes and his wife, Sheila, Johnny Hayes and his wife, Cecil Stephens, and Sherri Hall and her husband, Tracy; several grandchildren including Amber Stephens, Cara Stephens, Julia Gaybart, Ayden Stephens, Victoria, Cole, and many more loving grandkids; great-granddaughters Kadence Fuller, Hannah Miller, and several more great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donnie Stephens, and Lee Stephens and his wife, Joyce; his former wife and dear friend, Mary Ann Stephens; and a host of loving extended family members and friends.
