Bobby Gene Decker

November 12, 1938 ~ November 23, 2021 (age 83)

Bobby Gene Decker, born November 12, 1938, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021.

Mr. Decker was a resident of Edmond, Oklahoma and was a beloved and respected figure in the sport of BMX racing. During the early 1980’s, Bob took over the responsibility of running and promoting the BMX track located at Trosper Park. For many years, Bob promoted and ran the races while his son, Randy Decker became a nationally known and accomplished BMX racer. After leaving the lead role in promoting BMX in Oklahoma, Bob continued his love of people by giving away countless bicycles to those who might not otherwise have been able to afford one. There were literally thousands of kids that were positively impacted by the life of Bobby Decker.

In November of 2021, Bobby Decker was unanimously voted into the Oklahoma BMX Hall of Fame, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He will be recognized as a Hall of Fame BMX Track Operator at the annual banquet being hosted in February 2022.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Decker in 1994, his mother, Joyce Decker, his father, John Decker, and two brothers, JD and Tommy Decker.  What a reunion it will be at the gates of eternity!

Bobby Decker’s family was his pride and joy. Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Carol Price Decker, to whom he was married for the last 17 years. He is also survived by daughter Donna Vickers and her husband Eddie, Moore, Oklahoma, and son Randy Decker and his wife Amy, Oklahoma City.  He is also survived by his brothers, James and Johnny Decker.

Proverbs 17:6 reminds us that grandchildren are a blessing to a good man. “Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children”.  Bobby leaves behind a storied legacy in his beloved grandchildren. Steven and Heather Peeler, grandchildren, Braedyn and Brode Peeler, great grandchildren; Nick and Brittani Vickers, grandchildren, Jaxson and Brooklyn Vickers, great grandchildren; Danielle and Austin Hula, grandchildren, Kinsley and Hudson, great grandchildren; Whitney and Nader Chakroun grandchildren, Archer Chakroun, great grandchild; Carson Decker, grandchild; Cameron Decker, grandchild; Taylor Moinian and Austin Engel, grandchildren; Chaz Stokes, grandchild, Wren Stokes, grandchild; and Jacob Stokes, grandchild.

And while this is a great loss for this world, his influence will be felt for generations to come. Death ends a life, but it does not end a relationship. A life well lived is a beautiful thing, and Bobby Decker lived life well.
