Betty Eakes Obituary

Betty Lou (Hatfield) Eakes joined the Lord on October 5, 2021 at 11:55pm. She was born to David Porter Warford and Lillian Christina (Billhorn) Warford in Tonkowa, Oklahoma on January 2nd, 1933. Betty was the youngest of 3 sisters, Fannie “Fannette” (Warford) Cuellar and Bernice (Warford) Lewis. Betty grew up in South Oklahoma City, where she attended Capitol Hill High School. It was in South Oklahoma City where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Lee Hatfield. Jim and Betty were married in Gainseville, Texas on October 17th, 1948. Jim and Betty were married 25 years and had four beautiful children: Darrell Lee Hatfield, Jimmy Wayne Hatfield, Tina Marie (Hatfield) Jones, and Tami Lynn (Hatfield) Dutton. Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents, her two wonderful sisters, the love of her life, Jim, her beloved son Jimmy Wayne Hatfield and 2 great grandchildren: Angel Jones and Jett Thompson. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Brenda Hatfield, daughter and son-in-law Tina and Chris Jones, daughter and soon to be son-in-law Tami Dutton and fianće Robert Lee Miller. Betty was blessed with 15 grandchildren: Tiffany and Jeff Pratt, Breonna “Rochelle” and Bobby Thompson, Jimmy II and Alice Hatfield, April and Brandon Blakney, Tony Hatfield, Christopher and Kristen Jones, Penny and John Ross, and Melissa and Dave Reznick. She cherished 20 great grandchildren: John and Melissa Pollard, Brendan and Destiny Pratt, Tyler Pratt, Shelby and JJ Churchwell, Ty Thompson, Caity Hatfield, Jimmy Lee Hatfield III, Bryson and Addie Blakney, Matthew and Melissa Jones, Domonique Harris, and Alex, Nathan and Landon Campbell, and Ciara Martin. She has 5 (and counting) great-great grandchildren: Hazel, River, and Canyon Pratt, Breonna Renee Churchwell, and Aurora Harris. Betty also leaves behind many step grandchildren and beloved friends whom she cherished greatly. Betty loved being involved in her church. She enjoyed her Sunday School classes, serving in the nursery, and helping with Vacation Bible School. Betty loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play. She loved to read books and would often stay up late to finish a good book. She also enjoyed old school movies and musicals. Betty loved turquoise and enjoyed watching butterflies in her backyard. Betty was known as a woman of grace, love, and patience by all of those who had the opportunity to know her. Betty served the Lord all the days of her life and has left a legacy of unconditional love to all of her loved ones. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 10th 2021 from 1:30 pm to 8:30 pm at John Ireland Funeral Home (120 Broadway Ave Moore, OK 73160). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 11th at 10:00 am at Capitol Hill Baptist Church (304 SW 134th St Oklahoma City, OK 73170). Immediately following there will be graveside services held at Resthaven Cemetery (500 SW 104th St Oklahoma City, OK 73159). The family would love anyone who would like to attend to wear Bettys favorite color, Turquoise, in honor of her and her beautiful memory.
