Betty Lou Dudley of Claremore passed from this life to begin her eternal life in Heaven on August 20, 2021 at the age of 94. Betty Lou was born in Oklahoma City to William Francis and Bessie Riggs (formerly Young) on June 22, 1927. At the age of 22, Betty married the love of her life, Baulty Alfred Dudley, her husband for 63 years. She and B.A. had an insurance firm together where Betty was his assistant. They had two children and raised their family in OKC and Moore.
Betty Lou was a peacemaker and a joy-bringer. The main theme in her life was joy. She was a devout Christian, who above everything, loved God. She loved to laugh. Her cheerful attitude, sharp wit, and clever humor endeared her to everyone she met. She adored animals, but had a particularly soft spot for cats. Betty Lou was an incredible Homemaker and cook - her famous cheese soufflé literally melted in your mouth and could be paired with anything, and her family frequently requested her orange slice cookies and “mystery” pie. She loved being with her family. Some of Betty Lou’s most precious moments were spent with her great-grandchildren, teaching them to sew and reading them books. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, B.A., and two brothers, Vincent and Raymond Riggs. She is survived by daughter, Terri Huizenga and husband Steve, and son Jesse Dudley and wife Sherrill; grandchildren Chad Dudley and wife Loralee, Matthew Dudley and wife Brooke, Von Huizenga and wife Katie, and Taylor Huizenga; six precious great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family, friends, and neighbors.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home located at 120 South Broadway in Moore, Oklahoma.
