Barbara Jo Johnson of Nocona, Texas, was called Home to the Lord on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the age of 83. Barbara was born on January 22, 1940, in a little log cabin in Horntown, Oklahoma. Born on her father’s birthday, she was the daughter of Homer Woodruff and Ida Ellen (Vandeveer) Woodruff.
Barbara enjoyed the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and pulling a fifth wheel anywhere she decided she wanted to go. Always a strong, fierce protector of her family, Barbara was a “Mama Bear” through and through, always acting as the first line of defense when it came to those she loved. She was always the first to stand up for what was fair and right, and always the first person people went to if they needed help. She enjoyed spending her time crafting, cooking delicious food for her family, and listening to her favorite country and gospel music. She also adored animals and loved spoiling her cat, Baby. More than anything, Barbara treasured time spent with those she loved. She was a loving partner, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Barbara will be very dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, James W. Johnson, and seven siblings, Lenval, Norma, Alene, Roger, Carolyn Sue, Glendon, and Ronnie.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Debbie Johnson, Pam Bratcher, and Annette Carothers; eleven grandchildren, Tabitha Klingler, Chad Klingler and wife Sharon, Steven Griffith, Chad Griffith, Miranda Merriman and husband Bobby, Kerry Griffith and wife Hillary, Cody Carothers, Derek Carothers, Devon Carothers, Kurt Carothers, and Kyle Carothers and wife Ashley. Barbara is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, a host of great-great grandchildren, and her final life partner, Charles Haney.
