Arvel L. Lyons

Arvel L. Lyons of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the age of 85. Arvel was born in Oklahoma City on May 20, 1937, the son of Arvel L. Lyons and Lorene Lee (Cornelison) Lyons.

For many years, Arvel was a bus driver for the Red Carpet Charters company. He loved his career as a driver and was so proud to be the lead driver for the OU football team. Arvel’s love of talking to people allowed him to excel at his job, and he thoroughly enjoyed his career as a driver for over 17 years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening in his spare time. He was particularly fond of growing okra and other vegetables in his garden. Above all, Arvel valued family and cherished any time he spent with those he loved. He will be very dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arvel and Lorene Lyons, one son, Ronnie Lyons, and his mother and father-in-law, Velma and Leroy Jones.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Winnie Lyons; his children, daughter Teri DeQuasie and husband Scotty, son Richard Lyons and wife Kathy, and daughter-in-law Rhenda Lyons; his grandchildren, Travis Lyons and wife Krista, Meghan Young and husband David, David Baxley and wife Staci, Cherish Rogers and husband Scott, Kandi Davis, Chris Lyons, Katie Lyons, Josh Lyons, Avery Lyons, Lily Lyons, and Jesse Lyons. Arvel is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, one brother, Dennis Lyons, and many more loving extended family members and friends.
