Arturo Marin Jr. Obituary

On Saturday, April 17, 2021, Arturo Marin II, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at age 83.

Arturo was born on August 19, 1937 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Arturo Marin Sr. and Carmen Rivera. He moved to Bronx, New York at the age of 7 and was raised by his mother Carmen and her husband Mercelino Zavalla.   Art joined the Navy in 1954 where he served in the Vietnam and Korean wars. Art traveled the world abord the Ticonderoga, fighting for our country and enjoying the culture from Guam to Japan to Italy and Vietnam.      Arturo retired from the Navy in 1973 and then served as an air craft mechanic at McClellan AFB in Sacramento until 1990.

Arturo had two children with his first wife Zoraida Austin, Elizabeth Vaughn (married to Shane Vaughn) & Arturo Marin III (deceased).  Arturo married Deborah Owen on December 26, 1997, where he became father to Les Owen and Amanda Ornelas.

Arturo had a passion for fishing, photography, gardening and woodworking. He also loved to bird watch and also was an avid music lover.   Art loved to cook and enjoyed many of foods he had experienced while traveling in the Navy.  Art loved the San Francisco 49ers, watching tennis, and NASCAR.  He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit

Arturo was preceded in death by his father, Marcelino, and his mother, Gloria, sisters Aglae and Angie and his son Artie.  Arturo is survived by his devoted wife Deborah of 24 years, his sister Isabel, his daughters Elizabeth & Amanda, his son Les, grandchildren Josephine, Desirey, Destiney, Amanda, Miranda, Jason, Adam, Coty, Kelsey, Brittney, Deanna and 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
