Ardith Johnson Obituary

Ardith Ann Johnson, 86 of Moore, Oklahoma, died of natural causes on May 21, 2022, at Meadowlakes Estates in Oklahoma City.

She was born on October 21, 1935, in Luzerne, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Caroline Ann (Ransom) Garling. She married Clifford N. Johnson on June 11, 1955, in Waterloo, Iowa.

Ardith worked for Rath Packing Co. for many years until it closed. She then went to work for Milroy’s Formal Wear, retiring in 2008. In 2013, Ardith sold her home in Waterloo and moved to Moore, Oklahoma, moving in with Jeff and Sue. She loved sitting outside and reading – her favorite was Nora Roberts – and she adored riding Sue’s horse, Sky. It became her special tradition to take Sky for a ride each year on her birthday, something she did every year from 2013 through 2021. She loved going to the Johnson family reunions and staying with her grandson Eric and his wife, Jenn. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church for many years.

She is survived by her son Jeff Johnson of Moore, Oklahoma, and son Greg Johnson and daughter-in-law Diane of Yukon, Oklahoma; one brother, Jim Garling of Tillamok, Oregon; a granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson of Norman, Oklahoma, and grandsons Eric Johnson and wife Jenn of Waterloo, Iowa, Jason Johnson of Moore, Jordan Johnson and wife Katie of Des Moines, Iowa, and Cameron Johnson and wife Krissy of Bethany, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren; along with her beloved baby, Scooter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Johnson, a son, Scott Johnson, her daughter-in-law, Susan Johnson, her parents, Arthur and Caroline Garling, her in-laws, Clifford and Nora Johnson, and a brother, Russel Garling.

Services will be held on July 11, 2022, at the Waterloo Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.
