Alton Dale Henning of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on May 4, 2022, at the age of 72. He was born in Oklahoma City to Alton Webster Henning and Leona Pree (Christian) Henning on April 8, 1950. Dale attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he played on the football team. He was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving for four years while stationed in Germany and Louisiana.
Dale was a sweet, caring, highly intelligent, and sophisticated man who loved to travel the world. He enjoyed taking his family on vacations and cruises, going skiing in the mountains of Colorado, and relaxing at the lake on his boat. He enjoyed watching sports, especially OU football, and loved playing golf anytime he had the chance.
Dale had a deep personal relationship with God. He was a Deacon at his church for many years and was involved with the Sunday School program. A self-professed news junkie, Dale’s bank of knowledge was impressive, to say the least. He loved studying history, especially Egyptology, and he was a lifelong student, always eager to learn and retain new information. Dale’s children often relied on Dad’s brain as an alternative to Google when they needed a quick answer, and anytime they called him for help, he always had the correct answer – it was uncanny.
Most importantly, Dale adored his family, always squeezing his loved ones tight in one of his trademark hugs. He was a terrific father, and later, an amazing grandfather, expressing his love to those close to him with acts of service. He was a wonderfully loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Dale will be deeply and forever missed by all those in his life who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan, of their home; three children, daughter Venessa and husband Kevin, son John, and daughter Erin; two grandchildren, Megan and Connor; a sister, Denise; his three precious pups, Calli, Beau, and Tucker; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
