Aaliyah Quintero-Lopez Obituary

Aaliyah Leticia Quintero-Lopez, age 19 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, departed this life far too soon on Monday, August 1, 2022. Aaliyah’s family and friends are deeply shocked and saddened by her sudden passing. Aaliyah was born in Oklahoma City on December 9, 2002, the daughter of Rafael Erube Quintero and Rosanna Lopez.

Aaliyah attended Southwest High School, graduating with the Class of 2021. She then attended Metro Technology Center in Oklahoma City, where she studied culinary arts. Since she was a little girl, Aaliyah loved to dance, and she was lucky and talented enough to hone this love of dance into a successful career. In 2021, she started her own choreography business, Aaliyah’s Choreography, specializing in creating routines for proms, weddings, sweet sixteen dances, and other special occasions.

Known for her sometimes dark, always quick-witted humor, Aaliyah’s personality brought joy and laughter to everyone in her life. She adored spending time with her family and was especially close with her siblings. Always the protective big sister, she and her brother, Juan, who were exactly 13 months apart in age, often referred to themselves as “Power Twinsies” – Juan was the Alpha, and Aaliyah was the Beta. She was also a wonderfully positive influence on brothers Ezekiel and Ulisses, and she adored taking care of her little sister, who she affectionately called “Yogi”.

She liked watching her favorite Mexican soccer team, América, and loved watching scary movies. She was a huge fan of IT, Friday the 13th, Jeepers Creepers, and all the Chucky movies, all of which she watched countless times. She enjoyed binge-watching her favorite shows with her brothers, driving around listening to music, shopping online, baking fancy desserts and pastries, enjoying her grandmother’s cooking (especially her menudo), and of course, dancing.  She will be remembered for her loving, positive attitude, for always speaking her mind, and always standing up for what is fair and right. Aaliyah truly had an impact on every life she touched, and she will be dearly and forever missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known her.

She is preceded in death by an uncle, Juan Manuel Lopez Jr., and her grandma, Abuelita Cuca.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her mother, Rosanna Lopez, and her father, Rafael Quintero; her Papa, Rene Flores; stepdad Christian Rodriguez; four brothers, Juan E. Quintero-Lopez, Ezekiel E. Quintero-Lopez, Ulisses Rodarte, and Damian Rodriguez, and two sisters, Leila M. Ybarra, and Nina Flores-Lopez; along with many loving extended family and friends.
