Rodney Lee Thurman of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on March 26, 2024, at the age of 62. He was born in Del City, Oklahoma, on October 1, 1961, to Leo James Thurman and Loynita (Marvel) Spillmeier, both of whom have preceded him in death.
Rodney is survived by his brother, Randy Thurman, sister-in-law Pati Thurman, and nephew Levi Thurman. He attended Harrah High School, where he was a star on the football team. During his senior year, he transferred to Edmond High School to continue his football pursuits, graduating from Edmond High with the Class of 1980. Rodney went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, where he walked on to play football for the Sooners. His love for OU football stuck with him, and he was an avid fan who highly anticipated game day Saturdays. He was also a proud Veteran who served in both the Air Force and Air Force Reserves. As we reflect on a life well-lived, let us remember Rodney for his easygoing, caring, and loving personality, and for all the good things he did during his time on this earth. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live forever in our hearts.
