Robert “Bob” A. Venter formerly of Oklahoma City, OK passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Muskogee, OK at the age of 89. He was born on April 5, 1929 in Aurora Rural, CO.

Bob served in the US Army from 1947-1950. He married Janie Hardie Mosher and moved to Oklahoma City in 1959. He was a truck driver for Transcon Lines for 30 years. After retirement he enjoyed serving on the Civil Air Patrol, flying airplanes whenever he could, watching his favorite western shows on TV, and being involved with his church. He was a member of the India Shrine Temple and enjoyed being “Smokey” in the Shrine Clowns participating in many parades and clowning in the annual Shrine Circus. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Willie Venter; his loving wife Janie Venter, son Ronny Fred Venter, and daughter Debi Wadel, son-in-law Larry Schneider, son-in-law Karl Baggett and granddaughter Micheline Morton.

He is survived by his son, Bobby Venter and wife Becky of Vian, OK; daughters Sherri Baggett of Nevada, MO and Joyce Brown and husband Harold of Belton, MO; step-daughter Melvonna Schneider of Oklahoma City; and step-son Terry Mosher and wife Karen of Nevada, MO; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We want to thank the caregivers and staff at The Springs in Muskogee, OK for their loving and wonderful care of our father during the past several months.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of John Ireland Funeral Home, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore, OK. Burial will follow the service at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Mooore, OK.
