Paul Whitson

Paul Duane Whitson, 76, was born on July 15, 1942 to William and Ollie Whitson in Paden, OK. He departed this world on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in Oklahoma City. Paul grew up in Paden and eventually made his home in Thomas, OK. He spent some time driving big rigs before attending Roffler Barber School in Oklahoma City. He worked as a barber in Thomas, giving many their first and last haircut, all while working his way through college in 3 ½ years. He took over a barber shop with a pool hall where the locals gathered to play snooker and dominoes. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in Business Administration. Shortly after he worked as a District Safety Manager for Ryder Truck Rental in Amarillo, TX. He came back to Thomas and began working for Oklahoma Farmer’s Union as an insurance adjustor for over 20 years. Paul changed careers in the early ‘90s when he went to P.I. school, and soon opened his own private investigations office in Norman, where he worked until he retired in 2015.

Paul is preceded in death by his father, mother, an infant son, three sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by one brother, John Whitson and his wife Carol of OKC; three children, Malcom and Susan of Moore, Shelly and David of Norman, and Randy and Kim of Norman; six grandkids, Dusty, Nicholas, Brandon, Rebecca, Will, and Kyle; seven great-grandkids; longtime companion, Marilyn, and their puppy, Riley; and a host of relatives and friends.

Paul was an avid OU fan and Oklahoma City Thunder fan. He loved listening to classic country music, especially Merle Haggard, and spending time with his beloved family. This is where the cowboy rides away.
