Patricia Alice (James) Lewis Jan. 06, 1940-September 04, 2018

Patricia (Pat) Lewis was born on Jan. 06, 1940 in Hillman,(Alpena) Michigan to William Allen James and Flora Effie (Klingaman) James. At 9:25a.m., Tuesday, September 04, 2018 Patricia triumphed over cancer. Cancer may have ravaged and destroyed her body, but her spirit refused to bow down and submit to its audacity. Although she had watched her Grandmother (Cora) James, both parents and her son perish from cancer, she refused to bow down and allow cancer to dictate her. She rebelled in her style, with dignity, poise and determination. She determined that she would do things her way and continued to do so until the end. She kept her faith and relied upon her Lord to provide her inner strength.

Patricia was preceded in death by both her parents, her sister Mary Bossom, and her son Carl Eugene Shelton Jr.

Patricia loved and lived her life to the fullest. She loved people and people loved her. (Most of her friends, whether young or old would call her by the enduring names of Mom and Momma). It was that simple. If she saw someone in need, Pat would extend her hand out and help in each and every possible way. She helped simply because it was her nature, she wanted to, She never expected anything in return. It was her way of making the world a little better, a little brighter. Her door was always open for someone to drop in for a cup of coffee or just a chat. Her sparkling eyes and infectious laughter would always light up the room.

She had a mischievous, playful nature. Pat was known for her impishness and lightheartedness. Those close to her got to see and enjoy this child like nature of hers. She would pull pranks, tease and joke with the best of them.

Pat was independent. She strongly believed in being able to take care of herself and passed this trait to her children. She believed in working hard to obtain her goals and acquiring what she needed.

Patricia loved and was dedicated to her family. Her love for them was unconditional. Her dedication was so strong that for several years she kept and cared for several grandchildren in her home until they were able to return to their parents. She raised two granddaughters, Ann (Shelton)Mendez of Oklahoma City and Terri (Lee) Smart, also of Oklahoma City from birth until adulthood.

She is survived by her husband Louis K Lewis and six children, Kathleen Shelton of Oklahoma City, Debbie Death of Statentville, Ga, Steve Shelton,of Homer, Mi, Timothy Shelton,of Oklahoma City Scott Shelton, of Oklahoma City and Mark Shelton, of Oklahoma City. She has left behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A sister Margaret Duffy of Oklahoma City, A brother Bill James of Kempner,Texas and brother Robert James of Albion,Michigan and several nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by all.

Services will be held Sunday, September 09, 2018 at 1:30 pm at the Walnut Creek Chapel, 7840 NW 122nd St., Oklahoma City, OK.
