J. R. Hudson, 2:00pm, 2/9/2012

J.R. Hudson, age 77, of Edmond, OK, passed away February 4, 2012. He was born May 12, 1934, in Carney, OK. J.R. owned several race horses which he enjoyed watching at the track. J.R. enjoyed playing cards and watching sports. He was known for telling a good story. J.R. also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a car salesman for a while, but was a truck driver for most of his working career. J.R. was employed by Time DC, for over 20 years, and then retired from Air Liquide in 1996. J.R. never met a stranger. He had done just about everything, and traveled almost everywhere. His first love was spending time with his family.

J.R. is survived by his wife, Ruby, of the home; 1 son, Johnny Ray Hudson & wife Wendy, of Del City; 2 daughters, Connie Cottrell & husband Ronnie, of Luther, Debbie Culp, of Carney, OK; step-daughter, Sharon Lemons, of OKC; step-son, Randy Wall, of OKC; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers, William Ray Hudson, of Edmond, Glen Hudson, of OKC; 3 sisters, Norma Pugh, of OKC, Shirley Best, of Edmond, OK & Phyllis Donnell Whitlow, of Edmond; & a multitude of other family & friends. He is preceded in death by his father, William Chester Hudson; mother, Tessie Maggie Hudson; daughter, Sandy Danker; sisters, Jule Hudson & Lois Anderson; brother-in-laws, Johnny Whitlow, Floyd “Toed” Anderson & Norman “Bud” Best; nephew, Norman “Ford” Reno; grandson, Corbin Straley; step-son, Glenn Wall; son-in-law, Mike Culp.

Visitation will be held Wednesday February 8, 2012 from 9AM-9PM. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 9, 2012, at The Assembly of God Church in Carney, OK. Interment to follow at Carney Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, Moore, OK.
