Carl Owen Cabbiness, II, February 11, 1966 - October 4, 2018


                                              Carl Owen Cabbiness, II, of Norman, passed away October 4, 2018, at the age of 52.  He was born February 11, 1966, in Los Angeles, CA, to Carl Owen & Sue Ann (Bousman) Cabbiness. 

Carl graduated from Union High School, Class of 1984, where he played wide receiver on the football team.  Carl walked on the University of Oklahoma football program and went on to be a starting wide receiver for Coach Barry Switzer and scored the game-changing touchdown against the Texas Longhorns in the 1987 Cotton Bowl.  Carl went on to graduate from  University of Oklahoma in December of 1989 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and then went on to receive his MBA.  He was in pharmaceutical sales most of his working career.  He was very outgoing and he had a kind and loving heart with a charismatic personality. When it came to politics, Carl was to the right and you always knew where he stood on issues.Carl was a long-time member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman. Carl enjoyed working on hot rods and he had a 69 Chevelle, that was his pride and joy.  He enjoyed working outside and playing on his Nintendo.  Carl also enjoyed reading and helping others.  He enjoyed watching sports, “MASH,” “Seinfeld,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” and “Friends.”  Carl also enjoyed watching war movies and westerns with his dad.  His first love was his Lord and Savior.  He should be remembered as a very                                                                                                     passionate man who cared for others.

Carl is survived by 4 children, Callie, Trey, Cale, and Cason Cabbiness, all of Norman; 1 brother, Chris Cabbiness & wife, Nikki, of Tulsa; and 2 nephews, Cade and Caton Cabbiness.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Sue Cabbiness.  The family will receive friends and family from 6-8pm, Wednesday, October 10
th, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore.  The family suggests donations may be made to McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Outreach Program, 419 S. University Blvd., Norman, OK  73069 or Food & Shelter, 201 Reed Ave., Norman, OK  73071.  Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, Moore, OK.

I always loved Carl Cabbiness. Sunday School was so much fun when he was around. I am so sorry for your loss. I know that Carl has finally received the help he needed and has left his demons behind. Godspeed to healing for all the family.

Carl called on me for several years as my pharmaceutical rep. We became friends during that time and it was always such a pleasure to see him

I worked with Carl at Bristol Myers Squibb, my husband met him on a trip to Hawaii. Carl will remain in our hearts and wonderful memories forever. May lasting peace surround your grieving hearts.
