Barbara Jean Dean, 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 12, 2018

Barbara Jean Dean, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, passed away April 8, 2018, at the age of 86.  She was born January 8, 1932, in Sarepta, Louisiana, to Charles Jerome and Celesta L. (Smith) Frazier.

Barbara was an excellent seamstress and interior decorator.  She made all of her own curtains, draperies, clothing and d├ęcor.  Barbara was featured in two decorator magazines.  She was a true Southern Belle and was compared to being like June Cleaver.  Barbara always stepped out with her hair done, her make up on, matching jewelry and looking like a million dollars.  She was an excellent cook and she was known for her homemade yeast rolls, coconut cream pie, and true Cajun cooking, such as her chicken and dumplings and gumbo.  Barbara was an amazing homemaker. She loved to entertain and was all about her family.  Barbara loved holidays and get-togethers.  She and her husband, Luther had a bed and breakfast called Cranberry Hill, that was featured in magazines and on Discover Oklahoma.  Barbara was involved in her community along with her husband, who was at one time, the Mayor of Lexington.  She was the behind the scenes woman and was always helping and supporting him. They hosted cook-outs, family reunions and many dinners.  She was truly a classy and amazing lady and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  Her first love was her family.

You have my deepest sympathy for your loss. I stopped by to see Barbara in 2007, when she lived in Lexington and enjoyed visiting with her very much. Would have like to have seen her more but distance keeps us from doing many things. I know she was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
